Etiquette
While you are visiting Birdsacre, please:
Register in the Registration Building – so we know you are here. Take a photo of the trail map and a means of emergency communication.
Remember that the Main Entrance (High Street) gates that access the Sanctuary Grounds and trails open at 9 am and close promptly at 5 pm daily. Once closed, these gates DO NOT open until the next day. Birdsacre’s trails also can be accessed from the South Trails Entrance off Deerfield Road from sunrise to sunset. Maps.
Respect the Birds’ Part of the Sanctuary of the Sanctuary Grounds as a quiet area and dog-free zone designated for the comfort of our Avian Ambassadors. Please be quiet and move slowly around the enclosures. This is their home. Their comfort is paramount.
Do not feed any of the raptors as their diets are carefully managed. The geese and ducks appreciate lettuce – only.
Do not smoke. Birdsacre is a no-smoking environment.
Take pictures outside. Non-flash photography is welcome. No photographs in the Nature Discovery Center, please.
Do not camp at Birdsacre. No overnight stays are permitted.
Bring your leashed dogs on the trails that are outside of the Birds’ Part of the Sanctuary on the Sanctuary Grounds. Dogs are welcome visitors.
Consider keeping your dog with you if they are calmer and quieter by your side, rather than leaving them in your car. Their comfort will contribute to everyone’s enjoyment.
Scoop your dog’s poop.
Snowshoe, ski, and hike, or pause on a bench. Refresh your spirit in nature.
Don’t ride bicycles on the trails, due to trail softness in places.
Wear footwear, clothing, and insect repellent appropriate to the season. If you apply insect repellent, please do so in the parking lot and not in the Birds’ Part of the Sanctuary.
Take what you bring. Leave only footprints.
Thank you for respecting Birdsacre, our resident birds, and other visitors – enjoy your visit!
