Deadline July 20 Ellsworth - Birdsacre is sponsoring it's second
annual Photo Contest. The Deadline is Wednesday, July 20th and
all entries must be received by that afternoon. This contest
is in honor of the memory and passion of Cordelia J. Stanwood,
leading ornithologist and wildlife photograper who spent the
final 54 years of her life in Ellsworth at what is now known
as Birdsacre, Stanwood Wildlife Sanctuary. *Who can enter? Anyone-children, adults, and professionals. *What kind of Photos? Landscape, birds, flowers, trees, Cordelia's special places- basically anything that you find on the Sanctuary's 220 acre property that captures the essence of Birdsacre. Photos may be black & white or color. The photos can be from any season and do not have to be from this year. It is a requirement that the photos are taken somewhere on the Birdsacre property, and you must be able to verify that they were. *What size should the pictures be? Not larger than 8x10. No matting or frames please. *Categories: We will judge the professional and amateur categories separately this year so please indicate in which category your photos should be considered. *Special instructions: To be considered for judging, each entry must have the following information carefully printed or typed on a 3x5 index card or plain piece of paper, taped to the backside of the photo: Full Name, Age, complete mailing address, & phone # (email address if available or website for professionals). If you would like your photos returned to you please indicate that with your entries. We will make them available for you to pick up at the end of the summer but will not be able to mail them unless special arrangements are made. *Cost: Suggested donation per entry is $5 each or 3 for $10. All proceeds will be given to Birdsacre to help pay for the production of the winning postcards. *Where to take entries: All entries can be mailed to Birdsacre, PO Box 485, Ellsworth, ME 04605 or dropped off at the Birdsacre Nature Center. There is a box outside the front door if you arrive when the center is closed. Otherwise please leave them with a volunteer inside the center. *What is the PRIZE? One photo will be selected from the professional category and one from the amateur category to create special "Birdsacre" postcards that will be available for sale in the Nature Center/Gift Shop at Birdsacre next summer.
